Changes and a New Reality

The energy of Aquarius is very strong throughout the month of February 2021. Mercury in Aquarius starts the month in retrograde motion and Venus enters the sign of Aquarius on the 1st day of the month which means that now five planets are in the sign of Aquarius: Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, the Sun, and Mercury retrograde. Metaphysically (or spiritually if you prefer), I find this to be very important with what’s going on in the world right now. Whether I’m speaking with my friends around the corner (literally) or my friends overseas (literally), we all seem to be focused on health concerns and how this pandemic is affecting our countries and our individual lives. That’s so Aquarius. We’re also trying to find ways to reach out and maintain some form of contact. That’s so Aquarius. Finally, we realize that life is changing, there’s a new reality in the world, and we need to find ways to come together to solve the problems and move beyond them. That’s so Aquarius.

Mercury in Aquarius actually went retrograde on January 30th and it will remain retrograde until February 20th. During the time period that it’s retrograde, you’ll find that you want to reconnect with your friends. You’ll want to spend more time with people you love. Also, you’ll want to think about plans you’ve made in the past and whether those plans are still valid in your life.

During this Mercury retrograde period, you’ll also find that it’s a good time to discuss ways to approach problems and develop solutions with other people. This is not a time to try to work out things on your own. Embrace the importance of working with other people.

As Venus enters the sign of Aquarius on February 1st, it forms a mutual reception with Uranus. A mutual reception is an interesting phenomenon. It occurs when two planets are in the signs that the other planet rules. So, Uranus is now in the sign of Taurus which is ruled by Venus. And, Venus is now in the sign of Aquarius which is one of the co-rulers of Aquarius. (Saturn is the other co-ruler of Aquarius.)

Normally, Venus isn’t very comfortable in the sign of Aquarius because Aquarius is the sign of detachment while Venus indicates passion. So, it’s difficult to feel passion when Venus is in Aquarius. Instead, you view life as a spectator rather than as a participant. Yet, with Uranus in Taurus having this view as a spectator may be a good thing. When Uranus is in Taurus, it means that old rules are changing. Not all the old value systems apply. Life needs to be approached differently. And because you’re able to detach, you may also be able to understand that changes have to occur in order for the world to move on.

Also, when two planets are in mutual reception, they find a way to work together. If they were human they would reach out and find a way to hold hands while using the strength of their characters. For Uranus this would be a person who is willing to try new things and approach life with a different perspective. For Venus this would be a person who strives to find the best in other people.

It also seems so appropriate that the Moon is in Libra today and forming a trine not only to Venus but also Saturn, Jupiter, the Sun, and Mercury retrograde. So, while you may find it difficult to express your intimate feelings, you won’t find it difficult to engage with others. As a matter of fact, you’ll find that by reaching out to people, you can develop some very important coalitions.

On February 6th, Venus forms several aspects of importance. Because Saturn, Chiron, and Uranus are all in early degrees of their signs, Venus will form a conjunction to Saturn, a sextile to Chiron, and a square to Uranus. You may still feel that you need to be a little bit detached from circumstances, but you’ll be able to understand why changes needs to occur.

As Venus forms the conjunction with Saturn, you feel as if you can organize your life and develop structures which can help you understand various changes. You’re willing to make commitments either to individuals or projects which you feel are important. As a matter of fact, when Venus forms a conjunction to Saturn and you’re in a relationship, it’s very common for you to consider increasing your personal commitment to this relationship. At the same time, you may also feel that you don’t want to burden anyone with your problems, so you might keep too much information to yourself when other people are willing to help you out.

You’ll realize just how important it is for others to help you when Venus forms the sextile to Chiron a few hours later. In some ways, while you still want to do everything on your own, you’ll find that some people just won’t let you because they want to help you so much. It can be a very exciting and healing situation.

As the evening (in EST) occurs, Venus forms that square to Uranus. Normally a square between Venus and Uranus could indicate difficulties in relationships. It could indicate that you’re not willing to listen to anyone else. Or, perhaps the other individual is trying to take advantage of you. But because Venus and Uranus are in mutual reception, the “normal” interpretation of Venus forming a square to Uranus changes. Instead, you realize that each person needs to express their individuality, including you. You find ways to express your differences while still understanding these differences are what helps your relationships grow. You also realize that some of your preconceived notions are no longer valid. It’s time to let go of them and come up with new approaches.

When Ceres forms a sextile to Pluto on February 8th, you could find yourself experiencing deep emotions. Ceres represents the desire to create a safe environment for people you love, even if it means you have to compromise in some areas of your life to gain that safety. Pluto represents the passion you feel when you want something so much that you’re willing to take risks to achieve your goals and also not let anyone else stand in your way. If you believe that someone you care for is at risk, you will do everything you can to protect them. If you have to negotiate for something important, today is a good day to do that.

The energy of Aquarius is increases on February 11th when Venus forms a conjunction to Jupiter and the New Moon occurs. In addition to Saturn, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury retrograde, and the Sun in Aquarius, the Moon also joins them. You continue to realize that the old rules aren’t working. You want to know what the new rules are, but you’re not sure. As a matter of fact, I doubt that there is anyone right now who knows what the new rules are. So, allow yourself a little bit of confusion right now.

It helps that Venus forms the conjunction to Jupiter. You feel more optimistic about life, both personally and financially. You feel a lot can be achieved. You find that there are people who are willing to support you and give you help.

You also realize that any plans you make need to support both your spiritual as your materials needs. You want that balance in your life.

As the new Moon occurs with both the Sun and Moon in Aquarius, you want to move on with your life. You don’t want to be saddled with old problems. You want to find solutions. And, you don’t want to do this all on your own. You want to work with other people.

This is a good time period to develop some new plans and discuss them with people you love. You may not want to implement them quite yet, but you’ll find the opportunity after Mercury goes direct on the 20th of this month.

When Mars forms a sextile to Neptune on February 13th, you don’t feel like doing too much. But when you think about it, that’s not such a bad thing. The past two weeks were actually ones of high energy. So many changes and yet not knowing how to implement those changes.

So today is one of those days where you relax. Take your time. Think about the last several days and what some of those changes mean in your life. It’s as if your subconscious mind needs to catch up with your conscious reality.

As Mercury retrograde forms a conjunction to Jupiter on February 14th, you realize just how important it is to think about all the changes that are going on in your life and how you may want to implement them. This is not the first time that Mercury is forming a conjunction to Jupiter in this triad sequence. The first time that it occurred was on January 11th when Mercury was direct. The third time this conjunction occurs is on March 4th when Mercury is direct again. You may understand what changes to make if you think back to January 11th and what was important to you at that time. Or, you may decide that you still want to list potential changes and not take any action until after March 4th when this aspect occurs for the last time in this triad sequence. This is another way of saying, if you feel a bit confused today, that’s all right. If you feel as if you don’t have all the answers, that’s actually to be expected. So don’t worry, you will have the answers soon.

On February 17th, Saturn forms a square to Uranus. This is the first square in this triad sequence that Saturn forms. The next time this square occurs is on June 14, 2021 when Saturn is retrograde. The final time it occurs is on December 24, 2021 when Uranus is retrograde and Saturn is direct.

When you have two outer planets forming a triad sequence this energy becomes an underlying current which starts when the aspect first occurs and abates when the aspect occurs for the final time. You may not always be aware of it, but somehow you feel it subconsciously. It can drive so many decisions where you question how you can create stability in your life with so much change occurring and too many things still unknown.

Saturn represents the foundation of society. It also represents your foundation. It’s the scaffolding or skeleton that you build upon. It gives you the substance that you need to make things real in your life. In the positive, Saturn represents the cultivated gardens which you grow for the nourishment you and your loved one need. It can also represent how people find ways to work together and while still approaching solutions from a different perspective. In the negative, Saturn can represent constrictions and rules which prevent you from doing what you want.

Uranus often represents the unexpected. I often feel as if it’s the universe’s way of saying life may become too boring if change doesn’t occur. It also represents where people don’t want to be oppressed by others and will take any risks to end that repression. In the positive, Uranus can bring in a new order which increases both the prosperity of a nation and the advancement of the underserved in a community. In the negative, Uranus can represent mass upheaval without any consideration of the end results or what you can do to improve situations.

When Saturn forms the square to Uranus, it’s the universe’s way of saying: “Wait…don’t move too fast. Think about your actions before you take them. Find a way to bring more stability into your life as you let go of things that are no longer important.” It’s very similar to that verse (paraphrased), “When I thought as a child, I acted as a child. When I became an adult, I gave up my childish ways.”

With Saturn in its ruling sign of Aquarius, this is an opportunity to find ways to enact change in your life and also reach out to others for their help. With Uranus in Taurus and currently forming the mutual reception with Venus, this is another sign that you have the opportunity to embrace change while discovering what’s important to you

Because this is the first time this aspect is occurring, you may not be ready for major changes in your life. If that’s the case, start a journal where you make notes of what changes you think could be important. Review your notes in June when this aspect occurs again. At that time, Saturn will be retrograde indicating that you may want to make some changes with the structures you created. Finally embrace those changes in December when this aspect occurs for the last time. Saturn will be direct at that time and Uranus will be retrograde indicating that while you have the structures in place, you may still need to make some adjustments or changes in your approach. What it all means on a global level is that many of the societal changes which need to be made during this month of January may not achieve all the desired results before the end of this year, or perhaps into the beginning of next year.

February 18th is another day to relax and rest as the Sun enters the sign of Pisces. Once again it’s one of those days where you don’t want to do too much. It’s a good day to reflect on world events around you. It’s also a good day to realize just how wonderful you are and how much you deserve love in your life.

Mercury in Aquarius goes direct on February 20th. It went retrograde on January 30th. In many ways, this retrograde period was an unusually active period. There were many attempts at making changes which could solve problems. In other ways, life was creating changes which people couldn’t control, and still can’t. So, in that way, this was a typical retrograde period. Changes were attempted but the results still weren’t known. Or, life continued in a way that you couldn’t control. But with Saturn, Jupiter, and Venus also in Aquarius right now, there are a lot of changes going on under the surface. More changes than you realize. And, many of these changes will have positive long-term effects which will surface slowly over the next few months.

On a personal level, you may have tried to begin some new projects during the time period when Mercury was retrograde only to find them stalled. Yet, a lot of these projects will come to fruition in a positive manner over the next several months.

On February 21st, Ceres enters the sign of Aries. When Ceres is in Aries you may be willing to try new things, but you want to be in control. At the same time, you don’t want other people to control you so it may be more difficult to make commitments in relationships. It’s important that you take the time today to define areas of your life where you need to be in control and other areas where you are willing to compromise.

It’s amazing how much you’ll be able to get done on February 24th as Mars form a trine to Pluto. You’re able to focus. You feel optimistic about what you can do. You realize that it may take time to get things done, but you have patience today. It doesn’t bother you to take time and move slowly. Just don’t be so focused that you don’t hear other people when they want to help you out.

In some ways, you feel relieved on February 25th when Venus enters the sign of Pisces. You feel more passion towards other people. You don’t want to judge nor do you want to be judged. Just remember while you want to help other people, you don’t want to be taken advantage of.

Throughout the month of February, the energy of Aquarius was very strong. As the full Moon occurs on February 27th, the energy will start shifting. This is because the Sun is in Pisces while the Moon is in Virgo. Now you want more than just change in your life. You want to know how these changes will impact you personally. You don’t want to just take things at face value. This is especially true with the Moon forming quincunxes to Saturn and Chiron and therefore creating a yod. You don’t want other people telling you what to do. You don’t want rules that are preventing you from interacting in society. You want to get as healthy as possible.

You are also willing to feel compassion for others. And, where possible you want to help. And this is indicated by that fact that there is still an Aquarian component during this full Moon as the Sun forms a sextile to Uranus while the Moon forms a trine to Uranus. As much as you want more stability in your life and less change, you recognize the changes aren’t over yet. There’s a new reality in the world and we will still need to spend this year finding a way to come together in solve our problems.
