June 2007: Optimism Can Lead to Accomplishments

The month of June begins with Mars forming a trine to Jupiter retrograde on June 4th and beginning a grand fire trine. This energy leads to a sense of optimism that you can accomplish what you want. This is especially true because both planets (Mars in Aries and Jupiter retrograde in Sagittarius) are in their natural signs.

This can be a day of good luck. Where things seemed to move slowly in the past, now they are moving faster. In addition, you’re able to achieve things that you couldn’t do before.

As Venus enters the sign of Leo the following day, June 5th, you continue to feel optimistic about life. This optimism leads to a sense of generosity. Good things begat good things. You just need to be a little cautious with your optimism when it comes to spending money. While you may find some good bargains today, you may also go out and purchase unnecessary items just because you like them.

This is also a good time to re-connect with friends you haven’t seen in a while. Life often becomes hectic and friendships take a back seat. Now, however, you need to consider taking time to relax and have some fun.

Balancing fun with responsibilities becomes easier as Mars forms a trine to Saturn on June 11th and a sextile to Neptune retrograde on June 13th. The Saturn energy enables you to hone your energy in a way that you can accomplish quite a bit without over extending yourself. The Neptune retrograde energy gives you a chance to understand just how to put your dreams into actions. If you don’t feel inspired to take any actions right now, you may feel inspired to take care of your own health. So, this could also be a good time to take a spa day and pamper yourself.

The new Moon in Gemini occurs on June 14th and emphasizes the need to communicate with your friends and neighbors. This is a good time to reach out to others. Do be a little careful, however, because this new Moon is moving towards an opposition with Pluto retrograde. What this means is that you may be trying a little too hard to explain your actions to others. Or, you may find that other people are trying to convince you just a little too much that what they want is more important that what you want. It is a good time to analyze your needs. So, perhaps you may get involved in some intense conversations where other people are able to stimulate your thought process.

When Mercury in Cancer turns retrograde on June 16th, take the time to think about family needs. In addition to thinking about your family, take time to nurture yourself. You’ll find it easier to give others emotional support. Or, if you’re in need of the emotional support, you’ll find that more people are willing to give you this support. Where communicating through conversation was more important a little earlier this month, now is the time to communicate through listening to what others have to say.

On June 19th, Venus forms a trine to Jupiter retrograde and on June 21st, Mars forms a trine to Pluto retrograde. Between the next few days life will continue to feel good. The optimism that you’ve been experiencing will continue. If you need to negotiate anything, this is a good time for negotiations. At times you may feel a little intense about your point of view but that’s not a bad thing. What it means is that you have a very good understanding about your needs and how to meet those needs.

What’s more important is that this understanding of your needs occurs around the time of the Summer Solstice (in the western hemisphere). This is a period to celebrate what you have planted in your life. Venus has just passed the trine to Jupiter retrograde and is moving towards a conjunction to Saturn and trine to Sagittarius. Mars has just formed a trine to Pluto. You’re entering this celebration with the optimism that you can achieve your goals. You’re also entering this celebration with the knowledge that you have the energy to put your goals into action. With Mercury retrograde during this solstice celebration your ability to nurture people and your own self is very important. So, celebrate the gentleness of your spirit and the love of people in your life.

When Uranus in Pisces turns retrograde on June 23rd, you may not totally feel the energy. However during its retrograde period (from June 23, 2007 to November 24, 2007), you will feel the energy on a subtle level.

Uranus in Pisces means that you need to understand your fears as change enters your life. Some of these changes are best for society and increase global awareness. Other changes are promoted by minority organizations, especially religious groups, to try and impose their agendas on you. The key is to maintain awareness of these changes and how they impact you.

At the same time, since Uranus is turning retrograde, it’s time to slow down on many of these changes. You, and all people, need a breather from the rapid changes in daily life. You need time to digest the changes that have already occurred. If these changes continue to be pushed on you, you may feel emotional and psychic fatigue. Hopefully, with Uranus retrograde there is a plateau effect occurring at this time where you can come to some understanding of how these changes impact your personal life.

On June 24th, Mars enter Taurus. It’s not really happy in the sign of Taurus, its detriment. Here you need to slow down initiating new actions until you understand the potential outcomes of those actions. Yet, it is interesting that Mars enters Taurus the day after Uranus turns retrograde. This means that it’s another day to slow down and perhaps try and gain some understanding of the changes that are occurring in your life.

Mars will be moving into a grand fixed cross (with Saturn in Leo and Neptune retrograde in Aquarius) as it enters Taurus. This could represent a stubbornness of action. At the same time, Mars is also moving into a quincunx to Jupiter retrograde and a quincunx to Pluto retrograde. This can indicate that you’ll need to make adjustments in July 2007 when these aspects occur.

Basically, use this day as a time period to assess how recent changes in the world made an impact on your personal life. And, try to use those changes to improve your life.

On June 25th, Saturn forms an opposition to Neptune. This is a cycle that occurs approximately every 36 years, usually in a series of three. The first time this opposition occurred in this cycle was on August 31, 2006. The second time it occurred was on February 28, 2007. This third occurrence will be the last time in this cycle.

Saturn and Neptune can represent a disparity of energies. Saturn represents where you need to understand the constraints of society in order to participate in the society. Neptune represents where you want to dissolve the rules so that you can live life in a way that you meet your dreams and aspirations.

If you have a balance in your life between your aspirations and daily life, you may not feel the conflict that this opposition can represent. If, however, you’re feeling frustrated with life, it’s because you aren’t really living the lifestyle that supports your dreams. So, when this opposition occurs, it’s time to see if you can develop a plan where your life is one of balance and finding joy comes to you with every living breath.

Neptune can also represent where you set yourself up in situations that can lead to you becoming a victim. Saturn can represent the constraints that you let other people put on you. Again, if you are feeling frustrated at this time, it’s important for you to review your life and see if you are letting other people take advantage of you.

On a mundane level, it’s very important to review the events that occurred during the first two times that this aspect occurred in this cycle. It usually represents a crisis in one or all of the following areas: Leadership, financial, or conflict.

When Saturn formed an opposition to Neptune in August 2006, news of British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s leadership crisis hit the news and people in his Labour Party asked him to leave. When Saturn formed its second opposition to Neptune, Prime Minister Blair announced that he would be stepping down from office towards the end of June. Now it’s the end of June.

On February 27 and 28, 2007, there was a stock market crisis that started with the Shanghai Stock Market and rippled into the Dow Jones Market. According to various Traders, the rate of decline (down 546 points) was unprecedented especially since this decline occurred in minutes. While some analysts speculated that the Shanghai nearly 9% decline was manufactured to keep down housing costs in China, other analysts speculate that the decline in New York was related to the risky mortgages sold to investors. This is definitely a time to be cautious with any mortgage packages that are not quite the traditional mortgages.

Also in the news around the same time that the stock market dipped was an announcement made by Condoleeza Rice, Secretary of State, announcing that the United States were willing to discuss Iraq with both Iran and Syria. Yet, in the March 5, 2007 issue of The New Yorker journalist Seymour Hersh published information regarding contingency plans for war with Iran. Watch for more information regarding Iran and the United States throughout June but especially at this time. (You can read more about the mundane cycles of astrology for the 2007 in my book Trend Analysis for the Year 2007.)

What you may find fascinating about Saturn forming an opposition to Neptune is: Secrets are always revealed during this time period. It’s very difficult to hide things from others. This can occur in both your personal life as well as on a global level.

During the last few days of June you really need to focus on your finances. Venus forms a quincunx to Uranus retrograde on June 26th. And the month ends with the full Moon, Sun in Cancer and Moon in Capricorn, and Venus forming an opposition to Neptune on June 30th. On a global level, this will not be an easy time for the stock market due to escalating energy costs and continued difficulties in the housing market. Secrets that weren’t revealed on June 25th will come out by the end of the month.

It’s very important that you take time to nurture your needs. It’s also important that you spend time with your family. You may feel that your family obligations are preventing you from doing what you want to do. If that’s the case, review those obligations. It’s very possible that you created those obligations because they were important to you at one point in your life. If they still are important to you, see if you can get some help from other family members in meeting those obligations. If they are no longer important to you, see if you can shed those obligations or find someone else who is willing to take them.

The month of June began very optimistically. There was a sense that you could accomplish what you wanted to do in life. If you used those three weeks of optimism to create a balanced life style, you may use the energies of this last week to let other people know what is important to you so you can receive their support and help.
