Figuring Out Relationships

With both the Sun and Moon in Aries during the new Moon that occurs on April 1st, you feel that you’re ready to participate in social gatherings and enjoy the party. This is the first of two new Moons that occur this month. The second new Moon, also known as the Black Moon, is a partial solar eclipse that occurs on April 30th.

This new Moon is sandwiched between Mercury and Chiron, also in Aries, and forms a conjunction to both. This means that doing things your way is very important. You don’t want to listen to others. You feel that you know what’s best. You just need to be a little cautious. When Mercury is in Aries there’s a tendency to speak before you think. And, with Mercury forming the conjunction to Chiron as well, you might say something you later regret.

It does help that the new Moon, as well as Mercury and Chiron, forms a sextile to Ceres. As much as you feel that you know best, you also don’t want to be seen as someone who takes advantage of others. This sentiment helps you slow down so you do think before you act. You’ll also realize that by listening to others you’re receiving valuable information.

With the conjunction of Mars, Saturn, and Venus forming a square to the Moon’s Nodal Axis you may feel a little trepidation in getting together with others. But that’s because it’s been a while since you got out to do things. You want to see your friends but you don’t want to be put into uncomfortable situations. And your friends may feel the same way. So, take small steps as you go get together with others. Small steps may be meeting in locations where there aren’t a lot of people. Or, small steps may be meeting with only one or two other friends.

As Mercury forms the exact conjunction to Chiron on April 2nd you realize how much you want to hear from others. You enjoy listening to their stories. You want to know what they have to say. You may have missed their company. Or, you may want to share some of your own stories with them. The good news is that you and others around you are willing to be supportive of each other.

When Mercury forms that exact sextile to Ceres on April 3rd, you continue to experience support from others in your life. Creating a safe space is important and part of the support process. You also find that it’s easier to negotiate because you know what’s important in your life right now.

Taking one step at a time is even more important when Mars forms the conjunction to Saturn on April 4th. There’s a tendency to move slower when Mars forms a conjunction to Saturn. You want to take one step at a time. You are also paying a lot more attention to your environment than you normally do. This works in your favor as you’re able to make plans and visualize the best course of action.

You find yourself reflecting on different aspects of your relationships when Venus enters the sign of Pisces and Mars forms a square to the Moon’s Nodal Axis on April 5th,.

While Venus doesn’t rule the sign of Pisces, it is exalted in Pisces. This means that Venus, the sign of love and relationships, understands the energy of Pisces, the sign of compassion. Often when Venus is in the sign of Pisces, you become more thoughtful. You have this inner understanding of people in your life. You seem to know what motivates them. For this reason, you’re able to show them more compassion when they behave in a manner that usually irritates you.

As Mars in Aquarius forms the square to the Moon’s Nodal Axis you realize there you want to find a balance in your relationships. You want to understand what motivates others to behave the way they do. You want to give other people the freedom to live their lives in the manner they choose. At the same time, you need them to appreciate you. It’s important for them to accept your value system as much as you want to accept theirs. What may occur as you reflect on the values you share, or don’t share, with others, is a distancing from some people. You may decide that either you can’t give them emotional support or they can’t give you the support you need.

You find yourself watching your words very carefully on April 7th as Mercury in Aries forms the sextile to Saturn. You don’t want to be misunderstood. You find that you need to express yourself in an organized fashion. You want to lay out the information in a way that takes one step at a time and proceeds in a logical manner. For this reason, you’ll be able to resolve quite a few problems. And, while you may not have a sense of humor today, don’t be at all surprised if any cynicism you express is perceived as funny by others. After all, a lot of comedians have a very cynical perception on life that expresses the absurdness of the experience.

Before Mercury enters the sign of Taurus on April 10th, it forms a square to Pluto and you sense that other people are trying to convince you that your ideas are wrong. If this is occurring, you need to stand up for your rights. At the same time, you need to pay attention to your communication style. There’s a tendency to become argumentative when under attack. This could be good; this could be bad. It depends on the circumstances and the individuals involved. Since there is a tendency when Mercury is in Aries to think before you speak, you may want to walk away from a situation until you can assess all the ramifications of confrontation. The key, when Pluto is involved, is to maintain your emotional balance so you can maintain your power.

When Mercury enters the sign of Taurus, you may take more time to think things through. At the same time, you become more focused in trying to prove how right you are. In the negative you may find that you are no longer willing to listen or communicate with others. So, walking away may be of value. On the other hand, you may become that very stubborn bull where you push a point so hard that the other person can no longer tolerate listening to you.

There is one side benefit to Mercury forming a square to Pluto just before it enters the sign of Taurus: You have so much targeted energy that you can hone into a situation with laser focus.

On April 12th, Jupiter forms a conjunction to Neptune. Both Jupiter and Neptune are in the sign of Pisces, the sign they co-rule. In many ways they are similar: Both planets represent shifting boundaries.

When Jupiter is involved, you want to push the boundaries and cannot accept any form of authority. You want to discover the truth around you. You also want to develop a new way of approaching situations. You put all your energies into achieving your goals, even if it means justifying your behavior to others.

When Neptune is involved, you find boundaries dissolving around you and often creating situations you can’t control. While you want to find the truth, sometimes situations are too fluid and obscured so you can’t see the truth, just the lies. Other times, when you least expect it, the deceit is revealed and the sham exposed.

When Jupiter forms the conjunction with Neptune, a lot of what you question surfaces. You want to find the truth. You don’t want to be a victim of distortions or deceit. You want answers. You may find these answers by questioning authority and pushing the boundaries. But you may also find these answers by removing any illusions. Basically, research the information to determine whether it’s facts or fiction.

When Mars enters the sign of Pisces on April 14th, you find that you need to retreat from external situations and perhaps even some relationships. You may have been trying to help out others, but now you realize they just wanted to dump on you. They didn’t really want help. Or, you may have overexerted your energy by trying to do too much and it is now time to rest. In reality, you can’t be around negative energy. It’s time to take care of your own needs.

You start finding this balance between taking care of your own needs and engaging with others on April 16th when the full Moon occurs. With the Moon in Libra, it’s emotionally important for you to be around others. With the Sun in Aries you understand on a spiritual level how important it is to acknowledge your needs.

While Jupiter and Neptune are separating from the exact conjunction with each other, you still feel that energy at the time of this full Moon. You’re still questioning authority, not wanting other people to tell you what to do. You’re also questioning some of your friends and their perceptions of the world. You may even wonder whether it’s time to move on from some of your old friendships. Perhaps their world view no longer aligns with your world view. With Mercury applying to a conjunction to Uranus and Venus applying to a sextile to Uranus at this time, you want to be open to new ideas and you want to be accepting of other people’s concepts that may be different from yours…but…if the concepts are too extreme, in one direction or the other, you find that you do need to release that relationship and move on with your life.

When Mercury forms the conjunction to Uranus and Venus forms the sextile to Uranus on April 18th, you realize that any decisions you made at the time of the full Moon were the correct ones for you.

As Mercury forms the conjunction to Uranus circumstances surrounding you make sense. You’re able to grasp concepts easily because your mental awareness is heightened. You feel the true message behind the words even if you don’t totally understand what others are saying. And, while you may be open to new ideas, you also know how to discern the truth or falsehood of this new information.

As Venus forms the sextile to Uranus you acknowledge the importance of your belief system. You stand up for your beliefs. You demand respect. You let other people know that it’s unacceptable for them to undermine or undervalue you. Being true to yourself is more important now that maintaining relationships with people who don’t care about you.

When the Sun enters the sign of Taurus on April 19th, you’re on a mission. You want your life to be more secure. This can mean financial stability. It can mean improved relationships. It can mean looking for a new job or even changing careers. The bottom line is that you are focused to make certain you are experiencing the best you can in your life.

As Mercury forms a conjunction to the Moon’s North Node on April 23rd, you feel comfortable in communicating your needs to others. With both Mercury and the Moon’s North Node in Taurus you have a very good understanding of what you need in life. As a matter of fact, some people may say that you’re being single-minded or stubborn about the direction of your life. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is you know what you want.

April 24th is one of those days where you take time to approach matters realistically yet suddenly find that you are changing course as you doubt your initial approaches. That’s because Mercury forms a square to Saturn around 9:43 am EDT and a sextile to Neptune at 6:22 pm EDT.

When Mercury forms the square to Saturn you take things very seriously. You make certain that you understand everything. You take nothing for granted. You even re-evaluate your goals to make certain that you can achieve them.

As Mercury moves into the sextile to Neptune you begin to wonder if you missed something important. You don’t want to second-guess yourself, but you do. Neptune indicates that you need to be creative as you approach situations. But, this could cause you to go off on tangents and perhaps even start a new project before you finish the old one. If you’re not careful you begin to feel overwhelmed. If that does happen, you may find it’s easier to stop for a while and come back to the project later.

When Venus forms a square to Ceres on April 25th, you vacillate. With Venus in Pisces you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. Yet with Ceres in Gemini you just can’t keep your thoughts to yourself. You want to tell people what you really think. While this can create discomfort, this can also be useful. Rather than being confrontational and too direct, you find ways to couch your words so people hear the truth but don’t feel under attack.

As Mercury forms a sextile to Jupiter and Venus forms a conjunction to Neptune on April 27th, you realize that speaking your truth is important. At the same time, you don’t want other people to feel that you are attacking their belief systems.

Whenever Mercury forms a sextile or trine to Jupiter, your confidence increases. You see the best in situations, as well as others. And, it’s this confidence which enables you to solve problems and motivate others. For this reason, you’re able to communicate in a way that other people find inviting. They are willing to listen to your concepts. You even find ways to understand their ideas.

As Venus forms the conjunction to Neptune later in the day, you see the beauty of the world around you. Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, meaning that you want to find universal love and understanding. You may even find creative ways to solve some problems. If you’re an artistic individual, you’ll feel as if all your muses are very much alive and guiding you to complete some very incredibly creative work.

Mercury won’t go retrograde until May 10th, but don’t be at all surprise if you feel as if Mercury is turning retrograde today on April 28th when it forms a trine to Pluto. It is very common for Mercury to create what I call triad sequences that start a short time before the retrograde period and end a short time after the retrograde period. A triad sequence is created when a faster moving planet (in this case Mercury) forms an aspect to a slower moving planet (in this case Pluto) three times. The first time when the faster moving planet is in direct motion. The second time when the faster moving planet is in retrograde motion. The third time when the faster moving planet is in direct motion again.

Mercury forming a trine to Pluto indicates that you are very focused on your goals. You are willing to put in the hard work to succeed. You don’t want anyone to get in your way. You may also have difficulty listening to other people’s ideas because you believe that you are right.

As this trine first occurs today, you may need to decide what goals are important to achieve. You also need to start establishing some milestones so you can measure your progress. While you may not want to listen to others right now, it’s important to pull back and do some research. What you decide today will need to undergo review around May 25th when Mercury is retrograde so you can finally implement it around June 10th when Mercury is direct.

Some people never notice when Pluto turns retrograde, as it does on April 29th, because Pluto is such an internal planet. It deals with the underworld and matters that may remain hidden. It also deals with your subconscious mind. Pluto will be retrograde until October 8th.

While you may not notice that Pluto is retrograde, you will find that it’s easier for you to think things through. You’re able to apply a more analytic approach to situations. You’re also able to put greater effort into meeting your goals. What you may find, however, is that there are some situations which need greater research and understanding before you can achieve your results.

As the day progresses Mercury enters the sign of Gemini. You’re able to put more time into analyzing situations and establishing important facts. In addition, you’re willing to communicate with others to increase your knowledge.

As the month of April draws to a close, the first eclipse of the year occurs, Venus forms a conjunction to Jupiter, and Ceres forms a trine to Saturn on April 30th. This partial solar eclipse occurs at the time of the new Moon. It’s also the second new Moon of the month and called a Black Moon. In honesty this is not an astronomical term and I have no idea where it came from; only that it’s in use. But, when you consider that this second new Moon is also a partial solar eclipse, the term Black Moon applies very well. A partial solar eclipse is considered a very weak astronomical event and in some cases isn’t even noticed by individuals. So, it operates in the dark side of your life.

This eclipse is visible in southeast Pacific, South America, especially near the Falkland Islands, a bit of the south Atlantic near South America, and near Antarctica. It is part of the Saros 119 cycle. It’s possible that something could occur around the area of the Falkland Islands, so pay attention to that part of the world.

What is important is that both the Sun and Moon in Taurus forms a conjunction to Uranus. And while the exact conjunction of Venus to Jupiter occurs about 30 minutes after the eclipse occurs it’s still felt in this chart. Also, while the trine that Ceres forms to Saturn isn’t exact until three hours after the eclipse occurs, you’ll also feel this trine at the time of the eclipse.

This indicates that some unexpected event will occur that deals with either financial matters or relationships. You may be asked to stand up for your values. Or, you may run into some friends you haven’t seen in a while and question their change of values. With the eclipse forming a sextile to Mars, you may decide that you need to experience more compassion from your loved ones. And, you may also decide that you just don’t have the energy to help to people who are unwilling to help themselves. You’re tired of their drama. In other words, you may decide that it’s time to end those type of relationships.

When Venus forms the conjunction to Jupiter and Ceres forms the trine to Saturn you feel good about your decisions. You realize just how important it is for other people to accept and respect you. While you want to be generous with people in your life, you understand that others can only be as caring as you are to yourself. When you think about all of it, you are glad to spend more time with others. You’re even happier that now you’ve learned it’s also all right to take care of your needs as well.
