Introspection or Action: Perhaps Both

By Misty Kuceris ©2017

October is a month for both introspection and action. This is the time to understand relationships, especially the relationship you have with yourself.

As October starts Mercury forms a sextile to Ceres and Mars forms a trine to Pluto on October 1st. This is a great day for negotiations. With Mercury forming the sextile to Ceres, you are willing to listen to other people and find a way to compromise. You want to get something done. You understand the importance of relationships in your life. This willingness to listen and compromise will help you in any personal or business dealings you have today.

With Mars forming the trine to Pluto you’ll feel as if you can achieve anything. You’re able to focus on the important aspects of your life. You know how to develop goals and put those goals into action. Just don’t be so focused that you miss the big picture when developing your goals.

October 3rd is another good day as Venus forms a trine to Pluto. You realize how important it is to interact with other people, whether it’s in a personal relationship or a professional relationship. You’re able to pay attention to details so everything is taken care of. You know that you can achieve whatever you want if you pay attention. You are also willing to listen to what other people are trying to say so you can find a mutual resolution to any problems.

When the full Moon, with Sun in Libra and Moon in Aries, occurs on October 5th, the theme of working with others continues. Emotionally you want to do everything yourself. But, you realize that it will be easier if you work with other people in achieving goals. You may be fearful that you could lose yourself, especially because the Sun forms a quincunx to Neptune retrograde, but that doesn’t have to happen. Since the Sun is moving away from a conjunction to Mercury and the Moon is moving away from an opposition to Mercury, you’ll learn the importance of communication. If you can communicate with others, you’ll release the fears you have. You’ll find that you can establish a common ground.

Communication could be a problem on October 6th as Mercury forms a quincunx to Neptune retrograde. There’s a tendency to be sloppy when you speak with other people. You might say too much. You may ramble on without taking the time to listen to other people. You may not pay attention to those important details. Yet listening is just what you need to do. It’s going to be very difficult getting information from other people. They may be just as indirect as you are. This is a day to absorb information. It’s not a good day to sign contracts because you won’t get all the facts. Wait to make any important decisions until October 8th.

The reason that October 8th is a good time to make decisions is that Venus forms a square to Saturn. You’ll listen to what other people say with a healthy skepticism. You won’t take people at their word. You’ll research the information before you take any action. At the same time, don’t become so critical of what you hear that you establish a standard that’s too high for anyone to achieve that standard.

When Mercury forms a square to Pluto on October 9th, you find it easy to understand what people are saying and the message behind the news. You may still feel skeptical about the information you receive, but that’s not a bad thing. You’re willing to research the information to make certain that it’s accurate. You also won’t let anyone else manipulate you into doing what they want.

On October 10th, Jupiter enters the sign of Scorpio and Venus forms an opposition to Chiron retrograde later in the day. Jupiter will be in the sign of Scorpio until November 8, 2018. The last time that it was in the sign of Scorpio was between October 26, 2005 and November 24, 2006. It is a cycle that occurs approximately every 12 years and lasts for about 13 months. (A more indepth article on Jupiter in Scorpio will be posted online around October 8, 2017.)

During the last time that Jupiter was in Scorpio, several major events occurred. Angela Merkel became Germany’s first female Chancellor in November 2005. Twitter was launched in July 2006. Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet status while Ceres and Eris were promoted to dwarf planet status in August 2006. And, North Korea launched its first nuclear test in October 2006. To this day, it’s not known whether the test was a success or a dud.

While Jupiter is not in its own sign (Jupiter rules by Sagittarius and Pisces), it is very powerful in the sign of Scorpio. Things happen behind the scenes. Angela Merkel and her leadership style is a good example of Jupiter in Scorpio. She is said to be an individual who leads from the shadows. She doesn’t use a charismatic approach. Yet she is also now considered one of the most powerful world leaders. When it comes to world events, pay more attention to what is happening behind the scenes, the back pages of the newspapers rather than the front page. Or, if you find newspapers too old fashion, pay attention to those smaller social media stories which seem to float around in ether space rather than those that go viral.

Twitter, which launched during the last Jupiter in Scorpio cycle, has also changed communication styles and even advertising approaches. When Jupiter is in Scorpio many people don’t like to communicate with many words. They prefer a more “silent” approach. With Twitter you’re limited to 140 characters. You have to say it short and fast. You’re already seeing the effect of this. News reports: Half the news in less than half the time as headlines scroll beneath any pictures or videos. Blogs where people are only willing to read two or three sentences before they want to see a picture. Publishers telling their writers that people don’t want to read books more than 250 pages. (That’s about 25,000 words or five or six short articles.)

Jupiter in Scorpio also means payback time for countries or individuals that are not being fiscally responsible. There’s a tendency for interest rates to increase during this time period which means you’ll see increased interest rates with credit or debit cards. There’s also a tendency for currency to move to the digital forum. Banks don’t want your checks any more. Apps now let you transfer digital currency to a friend or business via your smartphone or tablet so you don’t have to carry cash anymore. Bitcoins and other similar currency will continue to increase.

While Jupiter represents the need to move into the future, Scorpio represents the need to get rid of garbage that prevents you from succeeding. When Jupiter is in Scorpio, it will be important to pay attention to what you accumulate. Financially you want to accumulate more money for your retirement and other living expenses. You need to pay down the bills and decrease your debt.

Emotionally when Jupiter is in Scorpio you can actually delve into your subconscious needs with more precision. You can gain that inner understanding of self that enables you to feel better about who you really are. Relationships can also improve during this time period as you know which people are worth keeping in your life and who needs to be “thrown out.” This won’t happen immediately. It’ll take place slowly during the 13 months that Jupiter is in Scorpio.

In the past, Jupiter in Scorpio represented technological advances which brought the external world into your private space. Now Jupiter in Scorpio represents the external world monitoring your private space. Personal privacy regains its importance in your life. You may find yourself opting out of social media. Or, you may decide that the location app on your portable device needs to be turn off. There is an emotional need to only let people into your life that you invite. You want the convenience of your devices, but only if they remain a convenience.

After Jupiter enters the sign of Scorpio earlier in the day of October 10th, Venus forms an opposition to Chiron retrograde. You may feel that you took too many risks and now you regret it. Or, you may feel as if you need to re-evaluate your financial situation or your relationships with others. If you find that you need to re-evaluate anything, don’t get stuck by criticizing your past actions. Instead consider them learning experiences. Take what you can from your lessons and move on with your life.

With Mars forming a square to Saturn and Venus forming a quincunx to Uranus retrograde on October 11th, you may feel frustrated that you can’t seem to achieve very much today. It’s one of those days where your energy is low but you feel as if you need to do something. It will be difficult to rely on others today because they’re feeling the same way. The best way to use this energy is to take one step at a time. Try not to do too much. Unexpected situations may crop up. If that occurs, assess the risk. If the risk is too high, don’t take that action. Wait until you have more energy on another day.

When Mercury forms a sextile to Saturn on October 12th, you find that it’s easy to concentrate on important matters in your life. You can communicate well and get along with others. You’re able to complete those routine tasks that you’ve been avoiding and feel good about your small successes. You’ll also be able to resolve those unexpected situations which cropped up the day before.

On October 14th, Venus enters the sign of Libra and Mercury forms a quincunx to Chiron retrograde.

With Venus entering the sign of Libra you realize how important relationships are in your life. You feel the need to be with other people. You are willing to negotiate with others. You want to find a way to compromise and still feel as if you just won.

With Mercury forming a quincunx to Chiron retrograde a few hours later you realize just how lucky you are to have those special people in your life. You may have said too much, but others are still willing to support your efforts. You may feel frustrated that you didn’t communicate as well as you thought, but you find that others didn’t feel the same way.

It’s very difficult to concentrate on October 15th when Mercury forms an opposition to Uranus retrograde and Mars forming an opposition to Chiron retrograde. You feel as if things are moving around you too quickly. You can’t keep up. It’s important to do the best you can to slow down and not try to do too much. You need to pay attention to your environment and watch where you’re going. If you’re not careful, you could end up in an accident because you’re not paying attention.

When Mercury enters the sign of Scorpio and Mars forms a quincunx to Uranus retrograde two hours later on October 17th, you may feel as if you just can’t communicate your needs to other people. At the same time, you’re restless. You want to be out doing something.

Mercury in Scorpio represents the listener: The individuals who want to understand other people so they can relate better. Mars forming a quincunx to Uranus retrograde represents the doer: Individuals who want to fix problems now. If you can find a balance between those two energies, you’ll be able to work through any frustrations you feel. The way to find this balance is to listen to what other people say and determine whether you need to act. You may find the other person just needs someone who listens. Or, you may find the other individual needs your help and is asking for it.

When Mercury forms a conjunction to Jupiter on October 18th, you need to be cautious and not say too much to other people. You might want to justify your actions, but you don’t need to.

In the positive, this aspect can indicate that any energy you put towards understanding your inner needs will bring results that help you with your future plans. You’ll know the psychological motives behind your actions.

It’s important that the new Moon which occurs on October 19th falls into the sign of Libra. You seem to be going back and forth since October 10th when Jupiter entered Scorpio between needing to keep information to yourself and needing to work with other people.

This new Moon forms an opposition to Uranus retrograde indicating that you could be having difficulties in your relationships. You might feel as if other people are telling you what to do and not listening to your needs. While you do need to exert your independence, you don’t want to be so aggressive that it creates problems, especially with the new Moon forming a quincunx to Chiron retrograde. You might be the one who gets injured in a negative exchange.

At the same time, this new Moon also forms a sextile to Saturn indicating that if you understand your needs and those of other people in your life, you’ll find a way to work together and solve problems.

There is a nice sense of harmony on October 21st when Venus forms a sextile to Ceres. You want to find a way to get along with others, especially since Venus is in Libra and Ceres is in Leo. You want to take the day off and relax. This is a great day to go out and play. This is also a good day to resolve past conflicts. People are sociable and want to solve problems. There’s a good feeling in the air.

With Mars entering the sign of Libra and Mercury forming a square to Ceres on October 22nd, you vacillate between wanting to help others and wanting to protect your own environment. Your understanding of the need for relationships increases. At the same time you don’t want to open your home or personal life to everyone. When Mars is in the sign of Libra, you do need to determine if people deserve your respect. You can see this more clearly with Mercury forming the square to Ceres. Ceres represents compromise where both parties give something away in order to receive something greater in return. This is a good day to determine what you want from relationships. You may even decide that you prefer privacy at this time rather than an active social life.

As the Sun enters Scorpio on October 23rd, you find that you want to be more introspective, especially since Venus will form a quincunx to Neptune retrograde later in the day.

With the Sun in Scorpio, it’s important for you to understand your needs and the psychology behind your actions. You want to move forward with your life but only if you don’t have to put yourself or your loved ones at risk.

With Venus forming the quincunx to Neptune retrograde, you want to make certain that your plans are realistic. You don’t want to romanticize situations. And, you don’t want to operate from fears.

If you have unresolved issues, today is a good day to think about them and try to understand why they are unresolved. You may want to consult with an individual trained in helping you delve into your subconscious mind.

You feel better on October 24th when Mercury forms a trine to Neptune retrograde, but you still need to be careful. Even if this aspect is a trine it could still mean that you’re not getting the information you need to begin a project. If possible, use this day to meditate and let thoughts just surface. You may come up with creative ways to resolve old problems. Just make certain they are realistic.

If you’re an artistic individual, this is a great day for your creative ventures.

As the month of October 2017 ends, Mercury forms a sextile to Pluto on October 27th. When the month began, Mercury formed a sextile to Ceres and Mars formed a trine to Pluto. At that time, as well as throughout the month, you found yourself vacillating between introspection and action. Relationships were important. Now with Mercury forming a sextile to Pluto you realize just how important it is for you to understand your needs so you can lend support to those you love. You’re ability to listen increases. You can understand the true meanings behind the words. You feel empowered to get things done. Just remember that as you focus on matters of importance, you can still reach out and ask others for help.
