As the month of May 2016 starts, there are five planets retrograde: Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto. These planets are personal, societal, and generational. This means that situations will impact you both in an intimate manner and on a global perspective. Mercury and Mars represent your ability to communicate and take action in your life. With these planets retrograde, you may not feel as comfortable speaking your mind or even following through on various projects. You just want to take a “wait and see” attitude in life which may not be such a bad idea. With Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto retrograde you may decide to see what the past has to offer and whether making important changes in your life at this time is really that wise. So it seems fitting that the first aspect of the month, as well as the last aspect of this month, is one where a retrograde planet is involved.

On May 3rd, Mars forms a trine to Ceres. Mars went retrograde on April 17, 2016 and will remain retrograde until June 29, 2016.

Mars represents the male principle of our life force and the desire to move forward in life, perhaps in a militant manner where taking risks is everything. Ceres represents the earth’s life force and the need to forge compromise whenever possible. Often when Mars is retrograde, it’s difficult to feel as if you can move forward with your life. You want to be more introspective. You don’t want to make mistakes which could cost you your life. With Mars retrograde forming a trine to Ceres, there is a greater desire to find the means for compromise rather than direct conflict. This can bode well for the world. While everyone wants to win, they realize that winning without compromise could possibly lead to the destruction of all. So, placing a value of each side walking away with something they want becomes very important. If you need to negotiate anything in life, today is the day to do it: Especially with matters that needed resolution years ago.

With the new Moon occurring in Taurus on May 6th, the retrograde motion of Mercury in Taurus continues to be important as you consider your resources and your ability to get things done. You want to begin new projects that have value for you. You need to review your finances and make certain that you can afford your lifestyle. And you need to understand the world around you.

This new Moon is actually part of an earth grand trine. The new Moon is applying to a trine to Pluto retrograde and separating from a trine to Jupiter retrograde. This means that you must be clear on your intent if you want to succeed. It also means that if you’re not quite clear, you can pull people into your life that will help you find the right path. The key to success with this very beneficial new Moon is to let other people help you if they offer. You don’t have to do everything by yourself.

You continue to understand the importance of involving others in your life on May 9th as Jupiter in Virgo turns direct and Venus forms a sextile to Neptune just a few minutes after Jupiter turns direct.

Jupiter entered the sign of Virgo on August 11, 2015. When it entered Virgo it was very important to look at your daily routine and habits which lead to your physical and mental health conditions. This included rituals in your professional and your personal lives. Economically you needed to look at how technology impacts your privacy. Spiritually you need to consider ways to expand your horizons through different forms of education.

When Jupiter turned retrograde on January 7, 2016, it was important for you to review your daily routine, perhaps even make changes in some of your habits so you didn’t get stuck in negative thinking or negative patterns. It was also important to re-evaluate your life style and make certain that you were doing the best you could to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Now that Jupiter is direct in Virgo, you feel as if you are making strides in your personal life. You can find ways to have a healthier lifestyle. You can find ways to bring more peace into your life. And, you even know what habits need to be changed so you can move forward with your life.

When Venus forms a sextile to Neptune you want to accomplish your dreams. You want to find practical ways to apply your hopes for a better life. You don’t want to take risks, but at the same time you want to move forward and create a better lifestyle.

This is a good day to express your creative nature. If you’re an artist, you’ll find it easier to tune into that subconscious self and bring up very wonderful images and designs. If you feel you’re not creative, but rather a rationally-minded individual, you’ll find that your mind is open to new approaches which you never considered before.

You may feel very romantic today, even if you’re normally a rational person. You may find that it’s easy to bring a new person into your life. If you do meet a romantic interest today, go slowly. You may have found your soulmate. Or, you may have found someone who expresses a part of your nature but can’t really fit into your world.

When Venus forms the trine to Jupiter on May 10th, you continue to feel good about yourself and the direction you want to take in life. While you may decide to wait for a little while until Mercury goes direct toward the end of the month, this is still a good day to consider taking new actions in your life. You’ll be able to determine how to balance your daily needs to those of your future goals. You’ll also understand the resources that you’ll need if you want to pursue new ventures.

If you’re involved in a relationship, you’ll find it easier to express your love. If you meet someone new today, you’ll feel as if you’ve run into an old friend. Or, perhaps you might find some old friends returning into your life.

Some of those good feelings you have on the 9th and 10th of May could change on May 11th when Venus forms a quincunx to Saturn retrograde. Perhaps you did run into an old friend yesterday and that individual brought up some past memories which you didn’t want to access. Or, perhaps you now realize that the potential romantic interest you met a few days ago really isn’t who you thought he or she was. A positive way to use this energy is to reassess your relationships with others in light of your personal needs. You don’t have to be critical, either of yourself or others, even if you feel you made an error of judgment. You just need to be realistic about your expectations.

If you were too critical yesterday, you’ll understand why on May 12th when Mercury retrograde forms a trine to Pluto retrograde. This is a great day for introspection. It’s also a good day to go through your files and throw out things that are not important.

You may want to sit down with a journal and just write whatever thoughts come to your mind without censoring those thoughts. Or, you may want to talk to other people about things that are bothering you so you can gain deeper insight into your own needs. Just don’t push so hard when discussing matters with others. You don’t want to come across as a dictatorial individual who is unwilling to listen and just wants to badger others.

This is not the first time that Mercury is forming a trine to Pluto in this series. The first time that Mercury formed a trine to Pluto was on April 17, 2016 when Mercury was direct and just before Pluto turned retrograde. If you keep a journal, you may want to look back to that date to see what insights were reveled at that time. Don’t be surprised if some of the insights you gain today are similar to those gained last month. And, even if you don’t keep a journal, make a note of this day, May 12th, because Mercury will form a third trine to Pluto on May 30, 2016 when Mercury is in direct motion and Pluto is still in retrograde motion. The reason to make a note of this day is because you may experience the same situation at the end of the month. Or, you may gain deeper insight into an important concern at the end of the month.

May 19th could be a tremendous day of healing as Venus forms a sextile to Chiron. You want to do what’s right in your life. You don’t want to be held back by any pain. You also don’t want other people to tell you what to do. If you can feel compassion for your current situation, you’ll be able to achieve quite a bit today. You’ll feel as if you can finally release a lot of negativity. You’ll also be able to use your resources to move forward.

A full Moon occurs on May 21st. But, before that happens, Ceres forms a quincunx to Jupiter. Ceres represents the earth goddess while Jupiter represents the gods of the earth. This is a day when you need to comprise on some important matters in your life. Be aware of your personal power. Rely on your ability to inspire other people. Know what it is you want to achieve. Use all that personal ability and knowledge to discuss matters with other individuals in a way they feel they also want to support you. Compromising today could mean a big win for your future.

With the full Moon having a Sun in Gemini and a Moon in Sagittarius, you’ll be able to find ways to communicate your needs to other people. At that same time, don’t be surprised if you feel restless and impatient in your communications with others since the Moon forms a conjunction to Mars retrograde while the Sun forms an opposition to Mars retrograde. Do be a little cautious. Sometimes when you get too impatient you forget to listen. You just want to talk. Listening is critical today if you want to succeed.

Mercury in Taurus turns stationary direct on May 22nd. It went retrograde on April 28, 2016. During the time period that Mercury in Taurus was retrograde you needed to focus on what you thought was valuable in your life. You needed to clean out the clutter that prevented you from moving forward.

There’s a stubborn streak when Mercury is in Taurus. You really don’t want to listen to anyone else. That stubborn streak was stronger when Mercury was retrograde. Now you need to open your mind to new possibilities. If you used the retrograde period wisely, you may have found ways to understand new information so you could incorporate that into your life. If you did incorporate that information into your life, you’ll be able to move forward with confidence.

After Mercury turns stationary direct, Ceres forms a trine to Saturn retrograde. This will help your resolve to clean up your environment so clutter doesn’t get in the way of your path. You’re able to understand the type of structure you need to create in order to succeed. You know where you need to be responsible and where you need to delegate that responsibility to others. While you want to rush forward into new situations, you also understand that you need to make certain everything is organized. So, hold back a little, but not too much.

When Jupiter in Virgo forms a square to Saturn in Sagittarius on May 26th, it will be the third square in this sequence. The first square occurred on August 3, 2015 when Jupiter was in Leo and Saturn was in Scorpio. The second time this square occurred was on March 23, 2016 when Jupiter was in Virgo and Saturn was in Sagittarius.

Jupiter rules the need to expand your life and move beyond the boundaries society has established for you. Saturn represents the responsibilities you need to face when you are an active member of society. At times, these two energies conflict, especially when they are forming a square.

When Jupiter was in Leo and Saturn was in Scorpio on August 3, 2015, you may have felt that you were willing to take risks to increase your success in life but external forces prevented you from taking those risks. Some of those external forces may have been responsibilities to other members of your family.

By the time the second square occurred, Jupiter moved into Virgo and Saturn moved into Sagittarius. Suddenly you felt that your daily routine was preventing you from moving forward with your life. You felt as if other people were expecting you to act one way when you wanted to act a different way.

If you are still feeling that you can’t achieve your goals due to external responsibilities, you’ve missed the lesson of this square and now with the square occurring a third time, you have a chance to understand the true message.

When Saturn was in Scorpio, you could take time and determine just how responsible you were for assuring other people had the resources they needed to succeed. You also had the opportunity to look at your own accumulations and toss out what you no longer needed. The tension created by Jupiter in Leo forming a square to Saturn in Scorpio was really answered if you asked yourself a simple question: Am I receiving expressions of love and gratitude for assuring other people had the resources they needed to succeed? If your answer was yes at that time (August 2015), you may not even have experienced this square.

Now with Saturn in Sagittarius, you can review your professional and spiritual commitments and decide how to incorporate them into your life’s journey. Perhaps the tension is being created because you are taking on professional or personal responsibilities that help others without giving you any personal satisfaction. You feel as if you’ve lost your voice in the matter. But all you need to do is ask yourself this question: Does my daily routine feel comfortable as I find ways to express my spiritual needs in both my intimate space and external world? If the answer was no during the second square, you’ll have an opportunity to find a yes answer at this time. If your answer was yes at that time, you may not even have experienced the second square (March 2016).

If you are still feeling a conflict between your perceived responsibilities and your desire to explore the world, you will need to find a way to resolve the conflict. Saturn in Sagittarius means that you need to review your long-term goals in relationship to your societal obligations. You just can’t run away and leave everything behind. Jupiter in Virgo means that if you maintain a healthy attitude about your approach to life, you will be able to balance your societal obligations with your desire for personal growth. You’ll be able to use the foundation you’ve built as a starting point to move into a successful future.

It is very fortuitists that Mercury forms the third trine to Pluto in this sequence on May 30th, a few days after Jupiter forms the square to Saturn. You’ll be able to use the energy of this trine to understand why certain responsibilities are important to you and how to create a healthy lifestyle to support your needs.

If you took the time during the two previous trines (April 17, 2016 and May 12, 2016) to meditate on your needs and consider the resources you have to provide for your needs, you’ll find that you can move on with your life in an organized manner. Things will make sense to you. You’ll also be able to toss out the clutter that gets in your way. That clutter may be material possessions, it may be a mental attitude, or it may even be people in your life who aren’t that important. Once you toss out the clutter, you’ll feel good about yourself. You’ll even feel less confused about the direction of your life.

As the month of May ends, Ceres forms a square to Pluto retrograde on May 31st. Metaphysically, this square is synergistic. When May started Mars retrograde formed a trine to Ceres on May 3rd. At that time it was important for you to be introspective about the direction of your life. You had to resolve matters through compromise rather than conflict. Now with Ceres forming a square to Pluto retrograde you may wonder if you compromised too much in order to get things done. Sometimes you do need to make a decision you don’t like because you feel responsible for other people in your life. But other times the square between Ceres and Pluto retrograde indicates a concern that you took the wrong path in life. In reality you chose the right path even if you’re feeling tension right now. Basically this tension represents the need to take a second look at choices you’re making. As you reflect on your choices you’ll understand their importance. And, as you understand their importance, you’ll also know why you made them. Compromise is important at times. If you made any compromise based on concern and caring, you’ll find that you made the right choice.
