The month of February begins with Ceres entering the sign of Scorpio on February 3rd. Ceres represents not only compromise but also the importance of understanding each person’s needs when it comes to winning a situation. When Ceres is in Scorpio, it becomes very important for you to understand who you are as a person. In addition, you want to help other people as they try to find their own path. Just be careful in your quest to help other people so they don’t feel as if you’re interfering in their lives. Sometimes all they need to someone who is willing to listen without offering advice.

Mercury in Pisces turns stationary retrograde on February 6th. It will remain retrograde until February 28th. This is an important retrograde period when it comes to making decisions about your goals and life plans. Mercury just entered the sign of Pisces on January 31. 2014 and only went up to 3º before it turned retrograde. It also came close to forming a conjunction to Neptune but turned retrograde before that occurred. So, a little earlier in the month you may have felt confused by circumstances in your life. But, as Mercury turned retrograde, this feeling of confusion lost its strength. Now, with Mercury turning retrograde, you have a chance to reflect on important situations in your life and gain more insight into the facts.

On February 11th, Mercury retrograde forms a trine to Ceres and Ceres forms a conjunction to the Moon’s North Node. This is another good day to consider your plans as you strive towards achieving your goals. The trine between Mercury retrograde and Ceres will enable you to understand where you need to compromise while maintaining your specific ideals. The conjunction between Ceres and the Moon’s North Node will enable you to see how your personal goals support your spiritual needs. In fact, you’ll feel a lot of spiritual harmony today. If you are a creative individual, this is a good day to take that energy and put it into your special projects.

Mercury retrograde re-enters the sign of Aquarius on February 12th and your ability to understand circumstances in your life increases. You’ll be able to ferret out facts that other people have withheld from you. You’ll be able to delve deeper into your subconscious mind to understand inner motivations that drive you to succeed. You won’t get all the facts until Mercury turns direct at the end of the month, but you’ll get enough information to start developing plans.

It’s actually romantic that the full Moon occurs on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, in the United States. With the Sun in the friendship sign of Aquarius and the Moon in the romantic sign of Leo, this can be a very fun day. It’s a good time to determine whether people in your life who say they love you are really your friends. Or, are they people who only come to you when they need something? It’s a good day to “lose” those people who don’t bring value to your life. At the same time, this could be a good time to celebrate your relationships with people who are of value to you.

When the Moon’s North Node enters Libra and the Moon’s South Node enters Aries on February 18th, a new 19-year cycle begins. The last time this occurred was from August 1995 to January 1997.

The Moon’s North Node represents the direction that you need to take at this point in your life. It also represents how a nation can improve its personal standing in the world. When the Moon’s North Node enters Libra, it’s important to review commitments you’ve made in your relationships just as it’s important for various international leaders to review the commitments and treaties they made with other leaders and nations. Negotiations become more important. Understanding how other people operate in life is critical. Knowing that you can’t just rely on yourself for success is important.

The Moon’s South Node represents talents that you have which can help you succeed. But it also represents self-defeating behaviors which can prevent you from achieving your goals. In mundane and political astrology, the Moon’s South Node indicates what types of fears leaders may use to try and manipulate the public into supporting their actions.

With the Moon’s South Node in Aries, you have the talent to focus on trying new things in life and knowing when to experiment with new situations. You have the ability to inspire other people with your ideas. But, you also need to be careful because a major self-defeating behavior that occurs when the Moon’s South Node is in Aries is that you try to do it all yourself. You forget to take other people’s feelings into consideration. And you find yourself alienated.

Leaders may use this sense of alienation to increase their power over others by stressing that they need to go at it alone. They may also use the fear of war or combat to keep people in line. There’s also a danger that leaders decide they are the only people who have all the answers and take situations on that others may not want them to.

When the Sun enters the sign of Pisces on February 18th, you may feel that you’ve been a bit too harsh on other people. Perhaps you thought about the importance of relationships in your life because the Moon’s North Node had entered Libra a few hours earlier today. Still you need to be careful. The Sun will form a conjunction to Neptune in a few days and you don’t want other people to take advantage of you. If they ask for your help make certain that they mean it. Don’t let them use you to make decisions for them. This could also be a good day to let your creative nature flow. You may find that by meditating on things new approaches to old problems surface and you can get a lot more done.

When Mercury retrograde forms a square to Saturn on February 19th, you need to consider all your options very seriously. This is a good time to review your past commitments and see if you are accomplishing what you want. If you are finding yourself overcommitted, it’s time to let go of those various obligations and move on.

Be very careful in your conversations with other people. You may feel as if they are questioning your motives or criticizing your actions. As a matter of fact, you may be questioning your own motives or criticizing your actions. If you are doing one or the other (or both), perhaps there is a good reason. Perhaps you’re not quite on the right track. Pay attention to your thoughts today.

When Venus forms the sextile to Saturn on February 24th, this is another good day to review your motives for taking particular actions. You’ll be able to focus on what is important to you. You’ll also be able to understand just why you need to take certain actions and why you need to stop doing other ventures. Romantically this could be a good day as well. You know what you want. You understand how to implement your needs. And, you can attract the right person into your life.

Jupiter retrograde in Cancer forming a square to Uranus in Aries on February 26th is important for a number of reasons. On January 31, 2014, Jupiter retrograde formed a square to Pluto and started the energy of a cardinal T-square which now ends with Jupiter retrograde forming a square to Uranus. This same energy occurred in August 2013 when Jupiter in Cancer formed an opposition to Pluto retrograde on August 7, 2013 and Jupiter in Cancer formed a square to Uranus retrograde on August 21, 2013. Again, the energy of a cardinal T-square was very strong at that time. This energy of a cardinal T-square will occur one more time when Jupiter forms a square to Uranus and an opposition to Pluto retrograde on April 20, 2014. That energy will actually convert from a cardinal T-Square to a cardinal grand cross because Mars retrograde will also be in Libra forming a square to Pluto retrograde and Jupiter and an opposition to Uranus. So, what occurs today will be a precursor to what could occur in April 2014.

When Jupiter formed a square to Uranus in August 2013, the world was a mess. Egyptian leaders were battling with supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood. Due to the violence, supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood retaliated by burning churches, especially Coptic churches. Meanwhile, Bashir Assad, President of Syria, used chemical weapons on August 21, 2013, to attack his opponents in the civil war. In China, officials began the trial of Bo Xilai on August 22, 2013 which ended on August 26, 2013. He was accused of accepting bribes worth $3.4 million from two Chinese businessmen; of embezzling about $820,000 of government money; and abusing his power by dismissing his police chief, Wang Lijun, in an effort to cover up the murder of British businessman, Neil Heywood, by his wife, Gu Kailai.

Scandals in the United States revealed that the NSA conducted email and web traffic search of both international and US citizens to try and “find a terrorist in a haystack.” Edward Snowden revealed the NSA’s various programs, such as xKeyscore, to various media outlets. By the time that the Guardian and other media revealed some of the information, Snowden has left Hong Kong for Russia where he was granted asylum on August 1, 2013, effective until July 31, 2014. Meanwhile, another leaker of classified information, Private Bradley Manning, now Chelsea Manning, was convicted on August 21, 2013 and sentenced up to 35 years under the Espionage Act and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

Violence will continue in various parts of the country, such as Egypt and Syria. Although Syria now wants to work with the United Nations to remove all its chemical weapons, it still has not negotiated a peace settlement in its Civil War. Meanwhile, the military in Egypt does not acknowledge the Muslim Brotherhood except, perhaps, as a terrorist organization.

Individual rights are very important when Jupiter forms a square to Uranus. Yet, there is also this need to reveal everything without considering all the consequences of the actions. Manning said that no harm was intended with the classified information being revealed to WikiLeaks. Manning only wanted to bring attention to American misdeeds made during the Iraqi war. Snowden said much the same with his leaks. He felt that he might be welcomed as a hero in the United States because he made people aware of just how much monitoring by the Federal government really exists.

You may want to look at privacy right now and determine just how important it is. And, perhaps this is the time to ask the question: How much privacy needs to be given up for security? But, the issue of privacy doesn’t stop there. Now Google wants to use your posts on products in their endorsement advertising. By using Google, you agree to this breach of privacy. Jupiter represents enterprise and corporations. Uranus represents individuality. So, corporations are going to take your individual rights and use them to make their own profits. The corporate hold is going to increase.

Once again, this is the time to think about developing a good foundation in your life that supports your personal needs. It’s not a time to just rush into matters without thinking. Rather, take your time, especially if the decisions are important to the direction of your life.

When Ceres turns stationary retrograde on February 27th, it is less than 2º of Scorpio. Just as Mercury entered the sign of Pisces for a brief time period before it turned retrograde, the same is happening to Ceres. Ceres will re-enter the sign of Libra in retrograde motion on March 22nd. It will turn direct on June 1st and re-enter the sign of Scorpio on August 6, 2014.

When Ceres is retrograde, it can be difficult to feel compassion for other people. There’s a tendency to feel as if the world owes you a living. That isn’t necessarily true. So, be very careful with your expectations during this retrograde period. People may not be there for you as you hope they are. They may have their own problems and need to solve those problems and solutions first. You may feel a little isolated but pull within yourself and gain strength from everything that you’ve learned in the past.

As the month of February ends, Mercury turns stationary direct in the sign of Aquarius on February 28th. Any information which you were able to gather during its retrograde passage in Aquarius really makes sense today. You see how it impacts your personal life. You understand just what you need to do to move forward with this information.

You may even find that some friends from your past come back and you can develop new and healthy relationships with them. You’re able to understand how some diverse information can help you right now. You’re able to look at things in a new way and bring sense to some of the old issues in your life.
